Located on a hillside opposite Kale, this mosque dominates the entire space around it.

It is situated at the very heart of the Bazaar and stands opposite the overwhelming Cifte amam and a number of new shops surrounding it. Right next to the mosque is a water fountain and this could be another reason why this temple of Muslim religion becomes even more capturing to the eye of the visitor. Inside the courtyard of the Murat pasha mosque is a well preserved water fountain (used by believers for washing), which was built in 1937. However, it is the remains of the old mosque cemetery that attract the greatest curiosity among visitors.

The Allaxha mosque is among the oldest mosques in Skopje. It represents an important historical and architectonical monument. It is situated in Bit Pazar (the green market). It was built in the first half of the XV century by Isa beg, the famous Turkish warrior. Isa beg lived and worked during the rule of Sultan Murat II, a period of expansion and strengthening of the Ottoman power in this part of Europe.Nearby the Allaxha mosque there is a Turbe which represents a truly beautiful architectural monument. It is of a closed type and it has a dome.

The mosque of Sultan Murat II (1421-1451) is situated on one of the most dominant locations in Skopje. It is placed on a hilly area which rises above the old part of the city. This mosque ranks among the first mosques built in Skopje. It dates back from 1436 and it is the oldest mosque among those that have been preserved to date. In the past, next to the Sultan Murat mosque existed the madrasa and the imaret that ranked among the most famous objects of their kind in Skopje.

The most beautiful mosque in Skopje that survived all the quakes, wars, rulers... It was constructed in 1492. It still exist today, it is an active mosque for the Skopje muslim population but is also a tourist attraction.
